so i jumped over our guitarist and continued my vocals while mosh-fighting with ruben, jay and nick

and that was how i broke my first xbox headset

I've been importing a flababillion CDs, listening to punk rock, skateboarding, trying to remember scales, sleeping, and having minor anxiety attacks about going back to Michigan. Gotta stay positive. I never knew that I could get on the roof from my window, but I really wish somebody told me that back in high school. I went to the world yo-yo contest and it was really really good, and I miss all my friends. Some of them don't speak any English, but that's okay, 'cause I don't speak any Japanese. Sour Pez is way better than normal Pez. I never liked hamburgers before this summer. Definitely wanting to start on another project soon.

Every time I write a blog, I sit down and think, "Well, I already posted the lyrics to 'Only In Dreams', I guess I shouldn't do that again."

an evening of extraordinary circumstance

last night i saw some people that i haven't seen since graduation. i was wearing purple pants. had a heart-to-heart with sean, and alex tunney tried to teach me exciting new chord progressions, but he was looking at everything upside-down. i realized that fuel economy is way cooler if you pretend it's a video game, except for when traffic lights ruin your pulse-and-glide high scores. it only takes four echochrome puzzles to make your eyes tired.

but all sadness aside, i got to catch up with high school homies and hang in BK's hot tub. i smell like chlorine hardcore, but it was nothing but good times. also, i saw this site Ponoko via this instructables and it is making me go crazy. i am so, so into the idea of making flatpack things. true, it's kind of pricey, but the wheels have started turning, so maybe i can cut my teeth there and then find another place to laser cut acrylics? this hair comb in particular blew my mind. how baller would it be to have my own laser cut afro pick? yeeeeah!

I want to build a robot so bad. I made the mistake of watching a bunch of old Battlebots footage on youtube today and I'm totally pumped on it. I'm actually totally pumped on, like, everything today. Yeah! Stuff! Yeah!

saw Young@Heart at the AFI today, and it was a very nice movie. i recommend it to anybody who wants to see 20 septugenarians sing "i feel good".

Ninety percent of the time I forget that I have a blog at all, which is just as well, because I only have something to say about five percent of the time. The joke about my posting only the remaining five percent of the time is far too easy and far too true. Anyways, now I'm going to play catch-up and just put everything that I forgot about. This is probably totally irritating for the two people who read my blog because they both read my flickr as well.

I saw The Fall Of Troy last night in Baltimore. Truth be told, I don't listen to them that often on CD, but that doesn't change the immutable radness of the show. Really great time. I need to go to more concerts!

I got all these CDs from spring cleaning sales at Asian Man Records and Mush Records, which for some reason happened at the same time. I guess they just want to overload me with brand new flava in my ear. Right?

Speaking of music, Randy played me a couple leaked songs from the new Weezer album. I don't know. I guess there's just never going to be another Blue Album or Pinkerton, so I should just accept that and appreciate their new stuff for what it is, but that might take a little bit of time for me. Honestly, I'm kind of cautiously pretending that it's a different band entirely, so if I end up not liking it I'll pretend that it never happened.

i spent about nine hours in the screenprinting room today, which is not my ideal sunday, but i feel really accomplished. i've only taken one picture of the stuff so far, and i don't know if i'll blog about the others – everyone that reads this will see them in real life anyways – but i think i got, like, 150% better at it. i mean, i'm still really bad and dirty, but less so!



i taught myself to solder in order to fix the pickups, put Gigantor on the pickguard, and am learning to play bass on it, but i still haven't technically paid nick for it yet. zonks!

Sid the Brasillionaire linked me to this site. It's everything ever recorded by this teenage musician that lived in his city and committed suicide at 16. Really sad. If he was this good at that age... man. Wasted talent gets me down. "H Polynesia" and "Humiliation" are both really good songs outside of any context, but "Untitled (Suicide Song)" is really hard to bear. I feel like I shouldn't be allowed to listen to it. Gets me down when beautiful people kill themselves.

Yesterday I watched my friend Ruben get kicked out of a parking lot while skateboarding and playing the guitar at the same time. Is there anything more punk than that? I'd love to hear it. On that note, the Amateur Laser skate vid is going to blow minds. You'll see.

The other day Heather asked me if she was the only one who was busy all the time, and I told her "yes". That was a total lie. School is not very awesome right now.

Hurray! Sent the box off to Steve at Shoparooni this morning along with 24 flat cutouts. I have no idea if anybody will buy them. I drew a lot of robots on the frames around the parts you cut out, so maybe people will be tempted by those. We're going for "sincere", not "polished".

See? I'm pretty bad at selling stuff.

It's really weird to me to be selling it at all. I dunno. It's like it didn't even occur to me that people would put down money for something I worked on and would just give away otherwise – I might still put it online when I get my life together and make a website, but I dunno. It's like, I don't want to do it because I'm biting Kid Robot, but it's okay as long as it's in the Munny show. Whatever! I know I'll be doing some stuff with the Jamz bear model, so at least I have that.

I need a better name than "Jamz", though. I personally think the adding of "z" is hilarious, but there's way too many papercraft guys doing "urban art toys" with names like "Cubez Boi" or "Boxx Blastaz" and I don't want to be part of that at all. Maybe just "Jams". I like that, 'cause it's a bear, and a name like that indicates the bear's natural love of both preserves and funky grooves. And it enables me to start singing MC5's "Kick Out the Jams" at any time. Always a plus.
